Caroline Carter is a Cincinnati-based mezzo-soprano originally from Dallas, Texas. Her recent credits include Dorothée in Cendrillon with CCM, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro with Canto Vocal Programs, Mrs. Herring in Oberlin Opera Theater’s production of Albert Herring, and Ernestina in L’occasione fa il ladro also with Oberlin Opera Theater. This spring at CCM, she will sing the role of Bessie in Weill’s Mahagonny Songspiel. Caroline is passionate about new music, and in 2024, she helped workshop the roles of Clementia, Margravine von Stade, and the Voice of Living Light in Sarah Snider’s opera Hildegard with Cincinnati Opera’s Opera Fusion: New Works program. Caroline was a finalist in the 2025 Tri-State College Vocal Competition through the Dayton Performing Arts Alliance and was named the second place winner in the NATS National Student Auditions competition in 2022. In 2021, she received the Silver Award in Classical Voice from the Young Arts National Competition and has also received accolades from Schmidt Vocal Arts and CS Music. Caroline started her classical training at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas. After graduation, she studied with Katherine Jolly at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she received a French minor in addition to her Bachelor of Music degree. Caroline is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at CCM, where she studies with Amy Johnson.
